Recently, I talked to Ben from Real Clear Stats. Think Bill Nye the Science Guy meets pickleball. Ben, if you’re reading this, obviously a much younger, better-looking version of Bill. Bill, if you’re reading, this is not a shot at you. 😂

Gosh, Bill, you’re probably not reading this, are you? ANYWAY…

Ben is doing an amazing job combining data and pickleball. How? By tracking statistics on MLP matches from the past.  

Over time, we’ve developed a relationship and he was nice enough to stat my match (without me even asking) against the Scottsdale Scorchers in the Arizona Pickleball League two weeks ago.

And we got on a call to break it all down. I learned about shot accuracy, game flow, rally wins, and player impact flow.

If you’ve been on pickleball social media the last couple days, you’ve probably seen there’s news surrounding the MLP - PPA Merger, and it’s about cutting player salaries to create a sustainable long term plan for the league.

This does impact me and I’m working through the details. I can’t answer any questions on it right now because the truth is, I don’t know much more (yet) than what’s on social media.

In other news, I’m back at it in the semifinals of the Arizona Pickleball League next Tuesday against the same team that beat us in our last match.
